Description
Basic Introduction to Nerve Blocks/Ultrasound Uses for Nerve Blocks (USGNB) is a training session designed to introduce participants to ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (USGNB) and their application in regional anesthesia. The training covers the principles of nerve blocks, ultrasound fundamentals, machine controls, probe selection, imaging optimization, needle guidance techniques, local anesthetic administration, patient safety considerations, indications and contraindications, and the prevention and management of complications associated with ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia.
Objectives
Introduce participants to the concept and practice of nerve blocks.
Discuss ultrasound machine controls and techniques used to optimize ultrasound imaging.
Explain ultrasound fundamentals, including probe selection, machine controls, and image optimization.
Describe the procedure for performing ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, including needle approaches and guidance techniques.
Discuss the benefits, indications, and contraindications of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia.
Outline the procedural steps involved in nerve block administration, including needle placement, local anesthetic injection, and confirmation of anesthetic spread.
Enhance understanding of common pitfalls, safety precautions, and complications associated with ultrasound-guided nerve blocks.
