Objectives

By the end of the presentation, participants should be able to: Define HER2-enriched breast cancer and distinguish it from other molecular subtypes of breast cancer. Describe the epidemiology, risk factors, and pathophysiology of HER2-enriched breast cancer. Explain the role of HER2 overexpression and gene amplification in breast cancer development and progression. Describe the clinical presentation and common patterns of disease progression. Discuss the diagnostic approach, including histopathology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and in-situ hybridization (ISH). Outline the principles of staging and assessment of hormone receptor status. Discuss the available treatment modalities, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, and HER2-targeted therapy. Identify the major complications and adverse effects associated with HER2-targeted treatments, particularly cardiotoxicity. Evaluate prognostic factors and the impact of targeted therapies on patient outcomes.
