This online course equips primary healthcare practitioners in Sub-Saharan Africa with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills in asthma diagnosis and management. Delivered by respiratory health experts from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Ghana, the course comprises eight one-hour modules covering key aspects of asthma care and the management of related respiratory conditions.
Objectives
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
1. Explain the pathophysiology, risk factors, and clinical presentation of asthma.
2. Apply appropriate approaches to asthma assessment, diagnosis, and severity classification.
3. Describe evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies for asthma management.
4. Develop patient-centred asthma management plans, including inhaler technique education, monitoring, and prevention of exacerbations.
